Star Wars Outlaws

Star Wars Outlaws is an open-world action-adventure about a smuggler, Kay Vess, attempting to pull off the galaxy's biggest heist. You explore vast planets, engage in shootouts, steal and outwit your way through the galaxy’s crime syndicates. It's the first Star Wars game to offer a huge open world and works hard to build its narrative which reflects your choices and actions.

PLAY STYLE

Player vs Enemies

The game is set between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi films, when Han Solo is frozen in carbonite and the galaxy's underworld is at its most powerful. You play Kay Vess, along with her trusty dog-like companion Nix and a reprogrammed battle droid. Together you attempt to pull off the biggest heist in history. You travel the galaxy, making friends and foes within the major crime syndicates, gathering information, forming alliances, and building your reputation to allow you to succeed in your mission.

Play involves exploring the vast open-world planets, interacting with characters and crime syndicates, and completing missions. You infiltrate criminal hideouts and imperial facilities, using cover and Nix's distractions to get by guards unseen. When combat is unavoidable (whether on foot, in vehicles or spaceships) you use blasters and cannons to shoot enemies. In cantinas and cities across the galaxy, you can play cards, bet on (fixed) races, and swindle your way to a greater fortune. You do jobs for different criminal organisations to increase your reputation with them, but can also choose to double-cross and backstab for a better deal. Your reputation with a group affects how they treat you and your ability to walk around the territory they control freely.

The result is a Star Wars game where worlds and their inhabitants react to your choices in a richly detailed environment brimming with life and character. Choosing who you want to be and how you want to play makes for an expansive, immersive and engaging game.

You need quick and precise reactions to shoot enemies with your blaster. You also need to be able to come up with clever ways of escaping tricky situations without being seen. Conversations and implications of what you say or do also require some understanding.

Content rating

PEGI 12
Bad Language
Violence

Rated PEGI 12 for Violence and Bad Language. This game features moderate violence towards human characters. Characters use fictional blaster pistols to shoot enemies. Enemies recoil realistically when hit, with sparks flying off from each impact, but without any blood or realistic injury detail. The game also features use of bad language, such as 'p*!s'. The game features scenes in which characters gamble, in a sci-fi setting, although there is no teaching or glamorisation of real-world games of chance.
