Astro Duel 2 is a sci-fi combat game that blurs the line between top-down space shooter and platform fighter. Fly into gravity zones that instantly absorb your ship and switch controls to platforming action. Each of the ships has a different play style and abilities like Warp, Drill and Reflect. As you play you can pick up items like mines, shields, shotguns and grenades. These, combined with the fully-destructible levels offer lots of opportunities for creative combat.

You can play competitively or cooperatively with up to 3 players to battle through the levels. Or there's Versus mode where 6 players can compete, or include bots to fill up the roster. There are lots of ways to customise matches or other modes to try like Cash Grab where you defend or steal the safe as a team and then buy equipment between rounds.

The result is a game that is fast, frantic and varied. The combination of spaceship and space pilot combat creates lots of new opportunities to outfox your opponents - or at least to die trying.

Insights to ensure your child's gaming experience remains safe and enjoyable

Internet Matters Recommends

Online Interactions

Some contact risks exist with multiplayer games such as bullying and online hate. Talk to your child about online etiquette, the importance of reporting any inappropriate behaviour and how to report or block an unkind player if they need to.

Violent content

Some video games include violent content, but how it's portrayed may vary from cartoon violence to that which is more realistic. Review the game's rating to ensure what your child sees is suitable for their development, use parental controls to set content age limits and talk regularly about how the violence they see in-game makes them feel.

Real vs. Fantasy

Some shooting games may show cartoon-style violence with silly reactions that would not be realistic outside of the game. Talk to your child about what the result of the same action might be outside of the game and why it's important to keep in the game.

8+

You need to be able to cope with the fast-paced movement and quick-switching from spaceship to on-foot. It's also a game where a big part of the fun is dying so you need to have resilience to be happy with that.
